It needs to be noted here that Sarah Myers Lindsay died about 3 weeks after her arrival in Ut ah of breast cancer. Wanting to die among the saints, it was at her request that her famil y made the journey west while she was terminally ill. One must admire the courage and dedicat ion that this woman has.

BIRTH: Birth entry - 1800 Die 9 July nata at die 13 bap fuit Sarah (Close crossed out) Myers , filia Thomas & Maria (Close crossed out) Myers (olim Close) conjugum. Patrinus William Hogg et, ? Hoget Matrina. The father in this record says Thomas. I believe this is incorrect for the following reasons . 1) Family records indicate her father was Richard. 2) There is a Thomas and Maria Close i n the area at the time (possibly a brother?) 3) There were many errors in the record. 4) From 1797 to abt 1830 Mary Close is always married to Ric or Ricardi except in this case.*

Both received patriarchal blessings in Nauvoo 23 Aug 1845, 23 Aug 1845. All early Church records state James to have been born 6 Jan 1794 in Rutherford County, North Carolina . His blessing gives his father as Charles and his mother as Statia. His High Priest record names his mother as Statia Gregory. The printed book "Pioneers and Prominent Men of Utah " states James was the son of Charles and Anastacia Gregory Rawlins of Pitt County North Carolina and his wife Janet Sharp the daughter of James Sharp. On all Church records the wife of James is given as Jane Sharp on her blessing record she gave her birth as 22 March 1794 in Barren Co. Kentucky, the daughter of Robert Sharp and Elizabeth

Record of Rawlins given to Mary Evelyn Rawlins (SLR Comp. File) shows death date as 13 Oct 1874. The Life Sketch of James Rawlins by Ina Danielson states that James and Jane moved to Cache Valley in 1872, and James Rawlins died 12 May 1874 at Lewiston, Utah, buried in Richmond , Utah. There is no other evidence of these facts.

John Frost enlisted as a soldier in the Revolutionary War in 1777. He served for five year s at several different locations, including Valley Forge where he was a guard at George Washington's camp. Corporal 4th NJ Regiment W7324 probate 1834 p. 4700001000100 to Frost, Ezekiel; 100 acres on Chestnut Creek p. 258 Rev. War pension application - states he was born in Morris Co., NJ in 1756, served with a unit from New Jersey. Baptized 1841 Nauvoo, proxy McCaslin Frost. After the Rev. War, John settled in Rockingham Co., NC, where he met & married his wife Mar y in 1786. Shortly thereafter they moved to Washington Co., VA, where their first son, Stephen, was born. Grayson Co. was formed, and the remained in this county until the time of their deaths. John states that he went to work at a forge as a hammerman. JOHN FROST'S CEMETERY BUFORD_WILSON@HOTMAIL.COMThis cemetery is in Carroll Co., VA, a short distance from the end of Roseberry Lane, on the west side of Hebron Road, 1.7 miles n. of Glandale road. The cemetery is located on land that was part of John Frost's farm. As you travel through the fields to the cemetery you will pass by an old slave cemetery. There are no marked graves there. Stephen-Alice-Ezekiel-Isabell-John-Elizabeth-Sarah-James-Rebecca-Jonas-Simeon.Some of the old markers have been lost in time and it is difficult to find the location or number of unmarked graves. John and Mary's markers have been lost. A government marker was erected for John in 1976. Mary's grave is unmarked. The cemetery has recently been cleared of brush and briars, and a new fence has been built. At this time the cemetery is in excellent condition.
