Cragun Family
Cragun Family
Tradition in the family of Jean (Cragun) Tombaugh, tells that our ancestor  was originally of Scotland and the name was McCRAGUN. Also, that Caleb Cragun moved from England to Ireland where he married and had children, one of whom was a son PATRICK, who came to America about the time of the Revolutionary War.[1], [2]. So, right or wrong, we will begin with the Craguns of Scotland.

Daniel Mark Burbank - 1770
Son of (Lieutenant) Daniel Burbank was born 7 Mar 1770 in Williamstown Massachusetts, and wife Margaret Pynchon. This was written by His son Daniel Mark Burbank. When I (Daniel Mark) was five years of age, my father started west with two other families. They built a flat bottom boat on the Monongahela River at a Place called Ologam Point. . . it being one of the forks of the Ohio River. We came on down the river to Cincinnati, Ohio and resided there until in the spring of the year of 1820, at which time my father and family and one of the other families again started down the Ohio River until we came to a place called Shawncetown, Gallatin County, Illinois, situated on the west bank of the Ohio River.

Daniel Mark Burbank, Jr.
Daniel Mark Burbank, Jr.
Daniel was born June 10 1846 in Farmington Iowa in a frontier home with scarcely the necessities of life. -

(After the death of the Prophet Joseph Smith and Hyrum Smith, there was a time of peace, but not for long. the mob soon began their plunder of homes, burning them, -killing the animals and all kinds of horrible crimes. Daniel Mark Burbank Senior says " I rode for some time under Colonel S. Markum on Bear River, Green Plains and also Cartage and Warsaw, and in our scouring of the country, we saw much destruction on homes, animals and crops. In this we received no redress from the governor nor from the president of the United States and found a home where best we could. We started in the wilderness amidst rain, snow, and much high water; and most excess exposure, leaving our farms, orchards, homes and Temple. Many of our people were very poor and destitute for the comforts of life, yet we must go on or be killed. So, trusting in God, we prayed often and after a while came to Farmington Iowa.")

Did you ever hear of the man they called Jode,
Who had a tough journey on Life's stony road?
Those with less grit would have died long ago,
But Job was a sissy, compared with this Jode.

LIFE OF HARVEY McGALYARD RAWLINS, JR
Harvey McGalyard Rawlins Jr. was born Dec. 13, 1851 at Big Cottonwood, Utah. The son of Harvey McGalyard Rawlins Sr. and Margaret Elzira Frost. When he was a year old his parents moved to the north side of Draper. In 1857 they moved to South Draper where his father set out a peach orchard. In 1865 his father was called to go to Spring City to go after the Indians who were stealing the settlers' cattle. He took his family with him. In November of that year they moved to Richmond, Utah. Here he helped his father on the farm and was a member of the Military Band. It is believed that he played the Cornet, which was called the trumpet at that time. It is remembered that Harvey Jr. was playing in the band, marching through the streets, at the time of his mother's death.

Life Story of my Dad - Horace Rawlins
Life Story of my Dad - Horace Rawlins
It was a cold frosty morning January 30, 1907. Cora and Alf Rawlins received notice that the stork was making a stop to their home that morn. So with Grandma Rawlins and old Doc Adams on from Richmond, on hand to greet the stork, a nine pound baby boy was born. The was the third child and the third son. They named me Horace Burbank Rawlins. Where the name of Horace came from I could never figure out but the name Burbank was my mothers maiden name.
