  Edward was a bonded magistrate in Cleveland Co., NC in 1806. Had a land grant deed in Rutherford Co., NC. Rumor has it that he left Shelby, NC and went to Georgia with Martin Cornwell , son of Abner, but he may have gone to SC instead. ZION BAPTIST CEMETERY, Cleveland County, NC, By W. D. Floyd In memory of Edward Cornwell , Sr. and Micajah, one of his sons who were the first Cornwells to settle in this area.
