Daisy Hilda Bulbrook was stone deaf all of her 92 years of life. Albert her husband volunte ered in the Royal Army Medical Corps in 1917. His oldere brother Walter had also joined th e army. Albert was leaving England on the ship Glenard Castle, a hospital ship and his broth er Walter was watching the ship go out at Avonmouth, with all lights on, the lights disappear ed and Walter assumed that the ship was out of sight. The next day he learned the ship had b een torpedeoed by a German U_Boat in the Bristol Channel. Daisy Hilda raised the three boy s by herself. There is one picture of this little family to be scanned into this histor y . Her father in law Walter George David Last, wrote to her and told her if she would com e to the United States that he would take care of her. She declined his invitation. Janic e L. Castleton heard this story from her son Reginald Albert (Bert) in 1982 when we met on th e day of the Tabernacle Choir concert in Royal Albert Hall. She must have been a very brav e and wonderful woman. | Bulbrook, Daisy Hilda (I13205)
