- Thomas Combe was a close friend of William Shakespeare. In Shakespeare's will is this beques t: "To Mr. Thomas Combe my sword." In his will, John Combe gave five pounds to William Shake speare Will dated 1608 mentions Bridget Young as his "daughter-in law", as she did not marry eithe r of his sons, he undoubtedly meant that she was his step daughter.
