- John Frost enlisted as a soldier in the Revolutionary War in 1777. He served for five year s at several different locations, including Valley Forge where he was a guard at George Washington's camp. Corporal 4th NJ Regiment W7324 probate 1834 p. 4700001000100 to Frost, Ezekiel; 100 acres on Chestnut Creek p. 258 Rev. War pension application - states he was born in Morris Co., NJ in 1756, served with a unit from New Jersey. Baptized 1841 Nauvoo, proxy McCaslin Frost. After the Rev. War, John settled in Rockingham Co., NC, where he met & married his wife Mar y in 1786. Shortly thereafter they moved to Washington Co., VA, where their first son, Stephen, was born. Grayson Co. was formed, and the remained in this county until the time of their deaths. John states that he went to work at a forge as a hammerman. JOHN FROST'S CEMETERY BUFORD_WILSON@HOTMAIL.COMThis cemetery is in Carroll Co., VA, a short distance from the end of Roseberry Lane, on the west side of Hebron Road, 1.7 miles n. of Glandale road. The cemetery is located on land that was part of John Frost's farm. As you travel through the fields to the cemetery you will pass by an old slave cemetery. There are no marked graves there. Stephen-Alice-Ezekiel-Isabell-John-Elizabeth-Sarah-James-Rebecca-Jonas-Simeon.Some of the old markers have been lost in time and it is difficult to find the location or number of unmarked graves. John and Mary's markers have been lost. A government marker was erected for John in 1976. Mary's grave is unmarked. The cemetery has recently been cleared of brush and briars, and a new fence has been built. At this time the cemetery is in excellent condition.
