- Son; Jones, Francis-(land on Crabtree Creek in Johnston County) p. 105, 2642-2-3-0-8 Will mentions wife Penny; sons John C., Francis, Reading, Tignal, and Fanning; daughter Eliza beth Alston; grandchildren Penny Jones dau of Westwood Jones, Tignall Stewart son of Duncan S tewart, and Tignal Stewart son of Charles Stewart. The Wake Co. estate papers for Tignal Jones list as heirs: Francis Jones; Reading Jones; Fanning Jones; Absalom Alston and wife Elizabeth; Duncan Stewart and wife Penelope; Charles Stewart and wife Polly; Westwood A. Jones and wife Delilah; and Tignal, Simon, Fanny, Sally, Willis, Polly, Peggy, and Penny Jones, minor orphans of Tignal Jones Jr. Wake County Heritage Book. In 1761, he moved to Wake Co., NC, and represented Wake Co. in the Provincial Congress of 1776. In some records he is styled "Colonel". Ridley of Southampton. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living magistrate on the bench. He represented Wake Co. in the Hillsboro and Halifax Conventions in 1775 and 1776. He also represented Wake Co. in the House of Commons in 1777 and the Senate in 1797.
