- p. 259; 00101-00201-00 p. 57 test. for land transfer from Nancy Richardson Jonathan MANLEY SR. was born about 1754 in Maryland. He may have spent some time in North Carolina though this is just a guess. An 1800 Census showed that Jonathan Manly (Senior) owned land in Harrison Co., West Virginia. Further, an 1801 Land Record showed a sale of land i n Harrison Co., West Va. Then later in 1801 through 1804, he probably resided in Barren Co. , Ky.
DEATH_BURIAL: Believe he died @1822-1823 in Marysville, Marion, Ia. and is probably buried there. It is not known when Jonathan Manly (Sr) moved from Kentucky to Iowa.
BROTHER'S_WILL: CORNELIUS MANLY WILL (1824): His brother's Will, Cornelius Manly Senior, dtd 10 Nov 1824, left land to Jonathan Manly Senior's son, thus indicating that Jonathan Manly Senior was no longer living. One researcher says that Jonathan Manley Senior took a land grant 8 May 1816 in Warren Co., Ky., and he died around 1822-1823 as a parcel of this land was sold by Gabriel Manley. Three of his children laid claim to this land: Gabriel G., Jonathan Jr. and Sally R. John R. Man ley was supposedly living in Indiana (and not in Kentucky at the time) but could still be considered a child. Possibly the parcel sold concerned only the three children so named.

1807: 200 acres Sinking creek. 2 horses.
1812 200 acres (damaged pages) Jonathan 75 acres 1 white male and 2 horses, Thomas 1 white male 2 horses. (I think this is Jonathan Jr. and Thomas both sons.)
