- Elsie married a Fred Cray, no dates. Had one son, Christopher. When son was small the fathe r took him to London and would not correspond with Elsie. She tried to see them but his fam ily would not tell her where he was. The Fred Cray was her 1st cousin. She had a broken hea rt from this tragedy. She married 2nd husband Walter Goldstone but never had any more childr en. He died on Christmas Day , but not sure of date. 1994 about. This information comes fr om Sister in law, Dorothy Last. Elsie's brothers Buster and Douglas helped to see that she w as taken care of. Dorothy had the responsibility for the last few years of her life. I me t Elsie just after she had a stroke in Sept. of 1998. She was a very small and frail woman.L etter from Sister in Law Dorothy Last in Aug of 1997, regarding Elsie. "Elsie is now 84 Yea rs old and lives alone and is indepentent. She has home care, broke hip 18 years ago. Sigh t is failing, very frail. Doesn't leave house much. Fred Cray, his mother and Elsie's mothe r were sisters so Fred and Elsie were 1st cousins. Elsie is a chatter box, very kind. Whe n Chris (son by Fred Cray, Elsies first husband), was about 8 or 10 year old, Fred took him a nd half the household goods and Elsie has never been able to contact him. Fred's family prob ably poisened his mind against his mother. Elsie looked after younger children (when she wa s young) when her mother went to work. (I cannot read Dorothy's writing. Elsies mother had T . B. after her husband left her and the 5 children and children were in an orphanage.) Elsi e was a clerk in a supermarket, worked as a waitress also. Fred was a fireman when he left . He worked hard, worked longer hours than necessary. Wally Goldstone 2nd. husband serve d in Burma during war and was never a well man. Elsie gave him great care, tender and loving . Elsie wrote letters to Chris (her son) and tried to find him but he never answered. Elsi e kept him immaculate as a child. On his 18th birthday she took him a gift but didn't get t o see him. She now feels it is too late- that if he had wanted to find her he could have. El sie's Bpt., Conf. and Initiatory done same day.
