    • SOURCES: On the marriage certificate for Thomas and Jane Nightingale, it says Thomas is a laborer. Thomas and his son Hezekiah left England for the United States on the ship Golconda on 24 jan 1853. Thomas was 33 and Hezekiah was 9 years old. (See film #025690 for the roster). They landed in Balize (See Book "Church Emigration" 1850-1854 in the Church Historical Department). They waited here 12 days for a tug to take them up to New Orleans. They boarded the steam-packet "Illinois" in New Orleans on 26 March 1853 to take them to Keokuk, Iowa. (See the book "Ships, Saints, and Mariners by Conway B. Sonne in the Family Histor y Library for further details on the ship Golconda and also the Illinois 973 W2 33). For the U. S. Roster see film #200173. Thomas and Hezekiah came across the plains to Salt Lake City with the Joseph W. Young Company . To see the roster go to the Church Historical Department in the Journal History of the Church. Thomas served in the Indian Wars in the state of Utah. Film numbers for these records are Service Records--0485507 and 0485554, AFN shows year of birth as 1821 TIB shows 1892
